One area that had been proving to be difficult was identifying an appropriate digital literacy framework to use as part of DELILA. I put a call out to colleagues in the CSG information literacy group and Cathie Jackson from Cardiff suggested I follow the same model that the Open University are using for digital literacy. The framework is the Futurelab model presented in their report from March 2010 on Digital Literacy across the curriculum. Digital literacy is divided into eight areas, which I’ve used to categorise our digital literacy resources at LSE.
This means for our second work package will involve a map of the professional standards framework to both the SCONUL 7 pillars of information literacy and the FutureLab framework of digital literacy. I really hope to get some feedback from some of the other OMAC projects when we meet at the Programme meeting on Wednesday on this. I’m also trying to get both work package 2 and 3 wrapped up before our DELILA Steering Group meeting next Tuesday. We’re looking forward to Sandra Griffiths’ visit, who is DELILA’s critical friend.
